As the sports of baseball and softball continue to evolve, our company continues to adjust and improve upon the design and function of the Tanner Tee. Two years ago, we defined a need for a heavier, more stable base that grips the surface and would be a complement to our tried and true Original Tanner Tee. After two years in the development stage, we are excited to introduce the Tanner Heavy - a new upgrade for the Tanner Tee that is set to begin shipping by March 1st, 2016.
We've worked with engineers, coaches and professional players to create a redesigned base concept that pairs perfectly with our industry leading Tanner Tee adjustable stem and flexible rubber top. The commercial grade, solid steel base has been engineered for optimal weight distribution and improved training functionality. Now Tanner Tee hitters and coaches can achieve any tee placement location on or off the plate, without the tee leaning. Its three-prong design provides maximum balance and stability which results in less creep than standard tees.
This subtle innovation alone makes the Tanner Heavy the best tee we've built, but we feel the durability of it puts it in a class of its own. The base is made from forged steel with a durable molded rubber overlay and weighs in at ten pounds. It’s what we define as the first in class Heavy Weight batting tee, which is still easy to carry because of a slender shape and natural grip points. If you take tee work seriously, the Tanner Heavy will take your training sessions to a new level.
Best of all, the Tanner Heavy base fits all Tanner Tee stems sold after 2010. Just unscrew your Tanner stem from its previous base and thread it into the Heavy base. The new Tanner Heavy can be sold as a complete tee or the Heavy base can be purchased separately if you already own a Tanner Tee.
Of course, there are reasons to get a complete Tanner Tee. Starting in 2016, we rolled out a fully upgraded Tanner Tee for all models – Original, Big Base, and Home Plate style including improving the molded rubber on all three sections. This rubber, specifically designed for Tanner Tees, is engineered to withstand weather and sun exposure. Being custom fitted to the pipe and only found on Tanner Tees, it grips better and last longer than ever before.
Whether you are a professional player or your child is beginning tee ball, the new Tanner Heavy lets you get the most out of every tee work session.
